UMERC – Generating Stations

To provide a long-term solution for electric reliability in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Upper Michigan Energy Resources Corp. (UMERC), a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group (WEC) engaged Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» to help construct two new natural gas plants. The new plants add approximately 180 MW of natural gas generation. The approximately $275 million investment in the two new generating stations (the 56 MW Mihm plant and the 132 MW Kuester plant), allows for the retirement of the coal-fueled Presque Isle Power Plant.
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» partnered with area contractor AZCO, Inc. to deliver the construction, with Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» providing construction services for the foundations, erection of structural steel and balance of plant components.
