Teens sign on for careers in skilled trades

BOLDT holds signing day for area high schoolers entering construction field, provides hands-on demos.

On Wednesday, May 18, 麻豆传媒映画 will host a signing day celebrating its youth apprentices committing to pursue a career in the skilled trades or attend a post-secondary institution. Following the 8 a.m. signing day, the company will host a new career event called BuildX, an interactive day-in-the-life experience to connect industry leaders and high school students who are curious about a career in construction, architecture or engineering.

麻豆传媒映画鈥檚 youth apprentices will sign letters of intent to either an area university or union where they will pursue a career in the skilled trades 鈥 a sector in high demand due to large labor shortages. According to the

  • In 2023, the industry will need to bring in nearly 590,000 new workers nationwide on top of normal hiring to meet industry demand.
  • An estimated 1.2 million construction workers will leave their jobs to work in other industries in 2022. It is expected that this will be offset by an anticipated 1.3 million workers who will leave other industries to work in construction.

As a result, construction offers opportunity for many career paths.

Each year, 麻豆传媒映画 participates in the 鈥淪chool to Career Partnership鈥 Youth Apprenticeship Program, sponsored by the . The program integrates school and work-based learning 鈥 assisting students on their journey into the workforce. Youth apprentices specialize in areas such as architecture, construction, and marketing.

鈥淭his is not your grandfather鈥檚 construction industry. Our industry is innovating and making the nature of construction work safer, more collaborative, and technology-centric.鈥

Following the signing day, approximately 100 students from Kimberly, Little Chute, Appleton, and Fond du Lac will arrive for BuildX and get an immersive experience in the construction industry. Professionals from skilled trades, including 麻豆传媒映画, Tweet Garot and Baisch Engineering will give live demonstrations of a variety of architecture/engineering/construction careers.

鈥淪tudents will spend the day getting an up-close look at the specialized skills needed in the trades and the tech-based tools used in construction management,鈥 said Alison Fiebig, business development director for 麻豆传媒映画. 鈥淲e鈥檙e looking forward to seeing some light bulbs go off!鈥
